1 / 16 Colors are one of the first topics every learner needs, whether you are shopping, describing a person or reading a sign. Korean color words have a special feature: most end with 색 (color), as in 빨간색 (red) and 파란색 (blue), and the adjective form changes when it goes before a noun, such as 빨간 사과 (a red apple). The words 빨강, 파랑 and 노랑 are also used as nouns. The old word 푸르다 covers both blue and green, so a green traffic light is called 파란불 (blue light). This set covers sixteen colors, including 하늘색 (sky blue) and 연두색 (light green). Hana, our host, will guide you. All pictures are simple color swatches and objects, with no people.
Say the color of three things around you today, for example 하얀 컵 (a white cup).

Frequently asked questions
Why are there two forms like 빨강 and 빨간색?
빨강 is the noun for the color; 빨간색 adds 색 (color). Before a noun, use the adjective form 빨간.
Is the traffic light green or blue?
Koreans say 파란불 (blue light) for the green light, because the word 푸르다 traditionally covers both blue and green.
