1 / 24 Body words are among the first things you need in Korean, whether you are pointing at something that hurts at a pharmacy or describing someone's looks. Most body parts are short native words of one or two syllables, such as 눈 (eye), 코 (nose), 입 (mouth) and 귀 (ear), so they are quick to memorise. Note that 손 means the whole hand, 팔 the arm, 다리 the leg and 발 the foot. Some are pronounced differently from how they are spelled, like 무릎 (무릅) and 손가락 (손까락). Koreans say 아파요 (it hurts) after a body part, for example 머리가 아파요 (I have a headache), so these words will help you at the hospital too.
Touch each part of your own body while you say its Korean name aloud; moving your hand helps the word stick.
